On Wednesday the Task Force received information that a delivery of drugs was headed to New Braunfels and officers began surveillance on the alleged dealer, following him to an address in the 600 block of Bus. 35.

The city road department is teaming up with TXDOT to work on Mill Street at Seguin Street, near the Tax Office, starting next week. They’ll be replacing the pavement along Mill Street, and pulling up the old signal loops that used to send signals to the traffic light at that intersection, before it was upgraded to the new camera operated system.

The meeting will begin with a report from CEO Paula DiFonzo, followed by a financial report and the consent agenda, before the board considers approval of their budget for fiscal year 2011. That 102-million dollar operating budget is actually 16-million dollars less than the operating budget from last year, which reflects a 17-million dollar difference in the projected power purchase cost over last year.

(New Braunfels, TX) -- In a special meeting tomorrow night, the New Braunfels 4B Board could end up recommending more than half a million dollars in spending to New Braunfels City Council, mostly in incentives for one business that wants to relocate to New Braunfels. First up though, following Council’s action on Monday to lease hangar space at the city airport, the 4B Board will look at approving 100-thousand dollars for improvements to that hangar, which for some time now, has been used by the New Braunfels Fire Department.

Despite tough economic times, the Comal ISD has been able to put 5-million dollars towards employee compensation, including 4-million dollars that comes from cost savings in the past fiscal year budget and from changes to the district's Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance package. The ribbon is cut, and Phase 1 of the Hwy 46 Pass-Thru project, from Kerlick Lane to Oak Run, is now officially complete. TXDOT officials and local community leaders gathered at the intersection of 46 and Loop 337 yesterday for that ceremony. And while most of the community is now looking ahead to Friday’s grand opening of the new HEB at that intersection, with Phase 1 in the books, TXDOT is now looking ahead to Phase 2 of their Hwy 46 Widening project.

(New Braunfels, TX) -- More details have been released about the stabbing of a 64-year old New Braunfels woman, in broad daylight, as she left the local Wal-Mart Sunday morning, and the arrest of the man police say is responsible. The woman is reportedly still in stable condition at University Hospital in San Antonio, after she was airlifted there following the 10:40am incident, where she suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest.

(New Braunfels, TX) -- A 64-year old New Braunfels woman is recovering in the hospital, and a 46-year old New Braunfels man is in jail, charged with stabbing her outside of the local Wal-Mart. The incident happened around 10:40 yesterday morning in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart, off Walnut Avenue and I-35, when the woman was leaving the store to go to her car. She was approached by the man, who grabbed at her purse. The woman refused, and the man struck her several times in the chest, before fleeing the scene empty handed.

(New Braunfels, TX) -- Early Friday morning, two New Braunfels men were arrested and taken to the Comal County Jail after a narcotics search warrant was served on their home in the Sleepy Hollow area off Gruene Road. Officers from the Comal County Metro Narcotics Task Force, Comal County’s SWAT team, and New Braunfels Police executed a Narcotics search warrant at the home in the 16-hundred block of Gruene Road, where they arrested 38-year old Adam White and 37-year old Michael White on drug charges.
(New Braunfels, TX) -- More details are emerging following the near-drowning incident at the Spring Fed Pool in Landa Park on Thursday. As we previously reported, a 5-year old boy was found floating in the Spring Fed Pool in Landa Park just before 1:30 Thursday. And it wasn’t just New Braunfels EMS crews that helped save his life. A local girl scout, an adult Girl Scout volunteer, and a nearby lifeguard also played roles in saving the boy’s life.

Of course, this falls on the heels of some other decisions by City Council dealing with that park, most notably the change in policy about parking on the grassy field at Prince Solms, a decision that first went into place last summer. Now the master planning process for Prince Solms Park is getting underway.

Their new US flag will be raised for the first time at a ceremony tomorrow, honoring the return of the red, white, and blue to the VFW Post and to honor the Korean War Veterans Armistice Day. Local Boy Scouts and ROTC members will be on hand as the VFW post raises their new flag which replaces a flag that had been flying over the post for many years, but had become too tattered, and had been taken down.

New Braunfels Police and EMS crews arrived on the scene at around 10:40 this morning, moments after the robbery happened.
