Ray Benson is the 2011 Texan of the Year - 45th TLC Continues Today
(New Braunfels, TX) -- Last night, Ray Benson from Asleep at the Wheel was made the 2011 Texan of the Year during the opening festivities for the 2011 Texas Legislative Conference. He was presented the award by 2003 Texan of the Year, and former Presidential Advisor, Karl Rove. And of course today the Legislative Conference gets into full swing. Just before 9am is the ceremony honoring the late State Representative Edmund Kuempel, a past Chair of the Conference and long time supporter of the event. Then at 9am, a series of 3 panel discussions begins. The first will cover the state’s budget woes. Then at 10am the topic will be border security, followed by the final panel discussion at 11 on the upcoming redistricting process. The final event of the day is a noon-time luncheon featuring keynote speaker Lt. Governor David Dewhurst.
