'The Kitchen Table' - SA Food Bank Pantry Program in New Braunfels
(New Braunfels, TX) -- There’s a new tenant at the New Braunfels Marketplace Shopping Center. It’s called the Kitchen Table, a new project of the San Antonio Food Bank, and it’s a different kind of food pantry program – one where families with hunger issues not only get the proverbial fish, but fishing lessons as well. President and CEO of the San Antonio Food Bank, Eric Cooper, says the program connects families with food and nutrition by offering education and cooking classes and even computer labs. The Food PAntry is designed to help families that are struggling, from the unemployed to the under employed, helping them meet their basic needs. And unlike other food pantry programs, families that use the New Braunfels food pantry will be able to 'shop' their storeroom for the items that their familiy will use, as opposed to a standard basket or box of food that has been preselected. Of course, this is a charity organization, and as such there are opportunities for community involvement, like volunteering and food donations. The Kitchen Table is located in Suite 350 of the New Braunfels Marketplace, right next to the William Edge Progidy Salon. If you’d like to take advantage of the programs offered, or contribute your own resources of time, money or expertise, the hours of operation are noon to 8pm Tuesday through Friday and 9am to 3pm on Saturdays.
